OP2A is a web project that combines a public-facing institutional website with an application for managing its content.

The goal is to separate two distinct use cases: visitors browsing information and administrators responsible for updating and maintaining the website's content.

Why Astro?

One of the project's key technical aspects is the use of Astro, a framework designed for content-driven websites.

Unlike architectures that routinely send a complete JavaScript application to the browser, Astro prioritizes HTML rendering and allows client-side JavaScript to be reserved for components that genuinely need it.

For an institutional website, this approach offers several potential advantages:

  • Performance: Pages can be delivered primarily as rendered HTML.
  • Content-oriented architecture: A structure well suited to institutional and editorial pages.
  • Reusable components: An interface organized into maintainable components.
  • Targeted interactivity: JavaScript is added only where interactions require it.

Choosing Technology Based on Requirements

A framework should not be selected solely because it is popular. It should fit the nature of the product being built.

For an institutional website, the main priorities are generally clear information presentation, easy navigation, and straightforward content updates. Astro provides a suitable foundation for the public-facing website, while the management application addresses content administration needs.

Technologies

  • Website framework: Astro
  • Languages: TypeScript, React

The project combines a content-oriented approach for the public website with management functionality for administering published information.
