Heart Consultants International focuses on strengthening cardiovascular care standards worldwide through professional education, training, and international consulting.
Where the primary Heart Consultants platform focuses on consultations and performance improvement for hospitals and cardiology groups, the international platform addresses a broader global audience. Its purpose is to present international services and help healthcare professionals and institutions explore opportunities to improve cardiovascular care.
The project is particularly interesting from an engineering perspective because it applies the same technical foundation to a distinct business context. Instead of treating the international website as a simple copy of the primary platform, the goal is to give it its own service positioning and user experience while retaining consistency across the wider digital ecosystem.
Shared technology foundation
The platform uses the same core technologies as Heart Consultants LLC:
| Layer | Technology | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Frontend | React | Component-based interface and interactive experiences |
| Design system | IBM Carbon Design System | Consistent visual language and reusable UI components |
| Backend | Laravel | Server-side logic, API endpoints, and data management |
| Communication capabilities | Shared integration approach where required | Supporting platform functionality without duplicating infrastructure unnecessarily |
Reusing the same technical foundation creates opportunities for consistency in development practices, shared design patterns, and easier long-term maintenance.
It also requires a clear distinction between common components and features specific to each platform. Shared UI patterns can be reused, while content, navigation, and service workflows should reflect the needs of the international audience.
Designing for an international audience
An international healthcare consulting platform must communicate clearly to users with different professional backgrounds, institutional contexts, and geographic locations.
The interface therefore needs to prioritize clarity of service offerings, accessible information architecture, and a professional visual identity that supports trust.
The content experience is particularly important: visitors should be able to understand the available services, identify the areas relevant to their institution, and find the information needed to take the next step.
For an international offering, multilingual content and localization are also important architectural considerations. A scalable implementation can keep interface translations separate from service content and avoid hardcoding user-facing text throughout the frontend.
For example, a React interface can use translation keys rather than embedding every label directly in a component:
import { useTranslation } from 'react-i18next';
function InternationalServices() {
const { t } = useTranslation();
return (

{t('international.title')}

{t('international.description')}

);
}
export default InternationalServices;This is an illustrative localization pattern, not confirmation that this particular translation library was used in the project. Its value is architectural: the same interface can display different language content without duplicating the component structure.
Backend organization with Laravel
Laravel provides the server-side foundation for application functionality and structured data management.
Maintaining a common backend technology across the two platforms helps preserve familiar development conventions and makes it easier to organize business logic into reusable services where the requirements overlap.
At the same time, the international platform has its own content and service needs. Its backend should distinguish between shared capabilities and international-specific content rather than introducing unnecessary dependencies between the two websites.
This separation supports future evolution, whether that involves additional service categories, new geographic audiences, localized content, or dedicated workflows for international clients.
A consistent design system across distinct products
Carbon Design System is an important part of the overall frontend approach. A shared design system allows the platforms to follow consistent conventions for typography, layout, form controls, navigation, and feedback states.
However, consistency does not mean that both products must have identical page structures. The primary consultation platform and the international consulting platform serve different objectives, so their information architecture should reflect those differences while preserving a coherent technical and visual foundation.
Engineering considerations
The main value of this project lies in extending an existing technical foundation to serve a different audience and business objective.
Key considerations include:
- Platform consistency: Reusing established React and Carbon patterns across related products.
- Separation of concerns: Keeping presentation, backend business logic, and content management responsibilities distinct.
- International content delivery: Structuring content so that services remain understandable and accessible to a global audience.
- Maintainability: Reusing proven technical patterns without forcing unrelated business features into a single application structure.
- Scalability: Maintaining a foundation that can evolve as the international service offering expands.
